I reply, "Sure, where would you wanna go?"
"I was thinking Santa Barbara. We can surf Rincon."
"Okay, sounds good!"
Twenty minutes later, his shift was covered and approved by a manager and we were at the gas station, filling up and hitting the road. That is definitely just one of the many beauties of living in an R.V.... it takes no time to pack! We sometimes still get the awful "are we forgetting something?" feeling, but then we remember we have almost everything we own with us!
So we hopped on the 405 and headed northbound with huge smiles on out faces and excitement in our eyes.
Times are good. I noticed the cab was quite shaky. I asked Steven to pull over and we checked the tire. "Everything is fine," he says. "It is going to blow," I say. "It will not blow," he says.
Two miles after we pull back onto the 101. "We have a flat tire babe, you called it," he says. We pull over and are trying to make a plan. Yes, we had a spare, but no jack and no tool to get the spare down!
As soon as we step out of the R.V., this beauty pulls up right behind us. It was such a blessing! Within 30 minutes, we had out spare tire on and were back on the road. (On our way to a tire shop, to replace all 6 tires!) The whole ordeal added about 1 1/2 hours extra time to our drive. We didn't mind at all. We have been recollecting points in our karma jar ever since then, because we're sure we used up a lot that day.
We pulled into Santa Barbara at exactly 7 pm. Although it was obviously not planned, one of my best friends Chelsea, who lives up there, was totally available! We parked Skip across the street from her house, met up with her and her boyfriend, Geoff, and headed out to State St. for some craft beers at happy hour prices :)
Stevie and I were not aware of this, but Santa Barbara is really into it's whiskey! Steven had an "old fashioned" for the first time. He said it was really good!
This is posted at the top of the trail as you walk down to Rincon. We took this picture for our friend Jules, who had said a few weeks earlier that he wished the rules of surfing were posted at every beach. The funniest part is that the point break is a right, but the waves on the sign are lefts. Locals corrected the sign with Sharpies!
Rincon. This is after we got out of the water and the waves were a little smaller, but it was a really fun day. It is a right that goes and goes and goes.
*** I should probably mention here that there was a night we spent parked in Geoff's driveway. He lives in a cabin on a BEAUTIFUL property in the Santa Ynez Mountains, fully equipped with a dream catcher hammocky-thing and a wooden hot tub! It was AWESOME and definitely a piece of inspiration for Steven and me as far as what we want our property to be like when we get to that stage. Obviously, that is a long way off from an R.V.! And sadly, there are no picture... I told you I was bad about it! ***

"Hurry up! Let's go check out the beach!"
We spent the last of the three nights at El Capitan State Park. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We were the only ones on the beach with the exception of five others.
Sightseeing and Contemplation.
Skip chillin' at the campground in the evening.
"Goodbye." Overall, a very relaxing, beautiful, serene trip.
